Maxwell Lake
This lake is the major source of drinking water for much of the island.
It is surrounded by private land. The public should be aware that there is NO SWIMMING OR RECREATIONAL USE allowed in MAXWELL LAKE.
If people were to swim there they would be trespassing on private land and could be charged accordingly.

St. Mary Lake - electric motors only
South end of St. Mary Lake
St. Mary Lake is the major source of drinking water for the North end of Salt Spring Island. North Salt Spring Island Water District, Fernwood Water District and Highlands Water District all have licenses and water treatment plants to deliver domestic water. It is the largest lake on Salt Spring Island.

Another view of St. Mary Lake
This is the North end of the lake. Even though it is the largest surface lake by area on Salt Spring Island, it has an extremely small watershed. This makes it even more important for protection.

Roberts Lake
This lake is the upper most lake of the Cusheon Watershed.
The entire lake is surrounded by private land. This lake is not classified by Transport Canada with regards to type of vessel and power driven motor.
Blackburn Lake - no motors of any kind
This is a very small lake so only rowboats, canoes and kayaks etc are allowed.
Cusheon Lake- electric motors only
Cusheon Lake is down stream from both Roberts Lake and Blackburn Lake. All the land surrounding these 3 lakes makes up the Cusheon Watershed. This is the drinking water supply for over 200 households and has one of the largest watersheds. The Beddis Water District has a water license and treatment plant to deliver domestic water.
